Chateau Vartely is a medium-sized winery established in 2004 that is situated in the ancient town of Orhei in the central region of Moldova. The winery specializes in the production of premium wines from its 250 hectares of vineyards in the southern and central regions. The winery produces approximately 2.5 million bottles per year of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Traminer, Muscat Ottonel, Pinot Gris, and Riesling — roughly 65 percent red and 35 percent white wines. Recently, the winemaker also started to vinify Feteasca Albă, an indigenous variety, and has been aggressively expanding the winery’s range each year by introducing new products like Riesling, Traminer, Muscat Ottonel ice wines and a Pinot noir rosé. The winery is ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP certified.
