Moldovan wines return to Russian supermarket shelves

The member wineries of the Moldova Wine Guild showcased a selection of their fine wines during Prodexpo 2008, a major Russian food and beverage fair held each February in Moscow. Guild members Acorex Wine Holding, Vinaria Bostavan, Chateau Vartely, DK-Intertrade, Lion Gri, and Vinaria Purcari represented the best of Moldovan wine at this important event. The Guild members succeeded in re-establishing contracts with important Russian importers, a market briefly lost by an embargo in 2006/07.

A highlight of the group’s participation at Prodexpo was a master class on Moldovan wine led by famous Russian wine critic Igor Serdiuk, who noted that Moldovan wines "all meet the highest standards of quality premium wines. A new generation of high quality wines has been formed in Moldova. All these wines can be presented at world-class competitions. This can be attributed to majority of Moldovan wine products." More than 30 wine experts and representatives from Russian press and trade attended the event.
