The Moldova Wine Guild celebrates its one year anniversary

In July 2008, a general meeting of the Moldova Wine Guild took place to mark the Guild’s one year anniversary, consider its accomplishment to-date, and plan for the future. Overall the Guild members are pleased with the year’s results. The Moldova Wine Guild organized participation at 8 trade shows and organized approximately 10 other wine promotion events for selected members of the wine trade or press in Moldova or abroad. In addition, the number of articles appearing in international wine publications about Moldovan wine, the Guild, and Guild wineries increased significantly. Moreover, during the first half of 2008, the volume of wine exports by Guild member wineries to European markets in comparison with the previous period grew by approximately 20 percent.

Official Moldovan export statistics suggest that nearly 40 percent of all wine exports are from Guild wineries. Nevertheless, much work remains to be done to further the Guild’s vision of becoming a recognized European wine producing region, known for producing great wines. Therefore, the Guild is planning an ambitious agenda of trade and press events for the year ahead. Details will be posted on the website as they become available.
